Published on July 26, 2011 under News & Events

Hunting Works for North Dakota launched our organization with two press conferences on Monday, October 18th. We highlighted our broad group of local and regional leaders representing North Dakota’s sporting organizations, small businesses, lodging and retailers in Bismarck and Fargo at two press conferences discussing the major impact hunting has on the state’s economy.

The Bismarck press conference was held at the Bismarck Municipal Airport in the morning. Speakers were Co-Chair Todd Jacobson, owner of Sunlac Inn in Lakota, Co-Chair John Arman, host of Ultimate Outdoor Adventures TV show, Spokesman Terri Thiel, executive director of the Dickinson Convention and Visitors Bureau, and Spokesman Rudie Martinson, executive director of the North Dakota Hospitality Association. Jacobson moderated the press event, and described the new partnership of over 40 organizations representing traditional and nontraditional economic supporters of North Dakota’s hunting heritage. Martinson provided specific statistics about the economic impact of hunting in North Dakota. Thiel spoke to the impact of hunting on the Dickinson community as a whole, and Arman spoke about local hunters and the dollars they spend for wildlife and the state in general.

The Fargo press conference was held at the Radisson downtown hotel in the afternoon. Speakers were Co-Chair Todd Jacobson, owner of Sunlac Inn in Lakota, Spokesman Rudie Martinson, executive director of the North Dakota Hospitality Association, and Brent Hanson, Fargo-based hunter and sportsman educator. Jacobson again moderated the event and the speakers covered details similar to those of the Bismarck event.
